Whine and Wine Wednesday!

Marathon Training Week 2 - Day 3

Wednesday's are our speed days.  Today we were supposed to do a 30 minute tempo run.

Hands on hip girl...again.  I gotta come up with a new pose.

I've been up all night with a sick child.  Do I look like I'm in the mood to run?
Randee did not get much sleep.  She also was having a bit of a hamstring issue.  Our goal was a 15 minute warm up going from 11:00 to 10:00ish pace.  Then we would do 10 minutes at 9:00, and finish with a 5 minute cool down back to 11:00 pace.

We did our 15 minutes averaging 10:30ish and then did 8 minute of a 9:00 pace.  Then Randee's leg started hurting worse so we called it a day.  We did a warm up lap before starting the time and then a cool down walk.  All together we did right around 3 miles.

Moving on...

You know what today is?

It's Duane's favorite day of the week!
Whine and Wine Wednesday!

Whine:

You're not going to believe this...but I really can't think of anything to whine about today.  Very odd.  This week is flying by.  The weather has been amazing.  I have several new blog followers.  It's just a good week to be me!

Oh yes, and I'm pretty sure the Food Network is about to contact me about hosting my own Bitchy Cooking show.

This was last nights dinner.
What, you don't eat dinner with chopsticks on the couch?
Okay, since I'm fresh out of whines...let's move onto the good stuff!

Wine!

Last night went down a little like this...

Doug brought out the good Tempranillo from the wine cellar.
I begged him not to do it.  It's Tuesday....I can't drink on Tuesday!

I begged him to wait until Wednesday to drink the wine.
But I'm sad to admit that with very little effort this happened....

My 9 year old daughter opened the wine.  (Is it normal for a 9 year old to know how to use a waiter's corkscrew?)

And I had Whine and Wine Tuesday.
So, I will be skipping the wine tonight.  But last night was a GORGEOUS night in Texas.

We set outside and sipped wine and looked at the moon.
Cutest. Couple. Ever.
Oh yes, and I laughed a lot at myself.

Trying to get the perfect sad face proved to be comical.
So, no whine or wine for this Wednesday.  Just imagine me with one of those sad faces right about now.

Pitiful, shameless, no good begging:  Did you vote today?  We have falling out of the top 25!  HELP!

If not, just click here.  Thanks!

What's your whine and wine for the week?

  1. Oh, I see you have the Champion sports top. NICE. I have SIX of those and love them all. I want more but don't see them online anymore. I'm going through running clothes withdrawl now. Not cool.

I'm whiny about everything this week. But I'll just pick one. Not doing so hot on Weight Watchers. I need to get my butt in gear!

  2. Wait wait wait...what winery is that from? I can't for the life of me remember what the winery is, but my husband LOVES this one Texas Tempranillo...the winery is in the Hill Country and it's just one building and the bar is in the middle of the room (as opposed to along the side)...Rancho Ponte? Rancho Ponte! Is that Rancho Ponte Tempranillo??

  5. I'm digging the 9 year old skills! That's talent! Good job on the run - running when tired is the worst!

  6. I think a 9 year old who can operate a waiters corckscrew is an awesome thing. I can't do that!

Whine: Stupid California weather (when do you ever hear that??)

Wine: Not tonight -- saving up for wine tasting party on Saturday.

  7. Whine: Who's room am I in? When did I lose 220 pounds? Shirt tucked in? Slacks? Darks socks? Loafers?

Wine: Johann Falkenburg 2009 Late Harvest Spätlese Riesling. Nice apple/pear taste. Good stuff!

Here is my note... (this wine is fantastic)

Tuesday, May 17, 2011 - Tar, rose petal, black fruits, dark chocolate powder on the nose. The color is ruby on the rim with subtle orangish hues. The tastes are of sour cherries, tangy blackberries, coffee, hoisin, dark chocolate, tobacco, and olives. The tannins are still very prominent combined with nice acidity and maybe I should have waited a little longer for this bottle. I really wish I had this with a juicy steak or fatty lamb at the moment; that would have been perfect! Still one of my favorites wines with respect to sheer complexity!

  10. Coincidentally, I tried to take a picture of my sad face tonight. None of the pics made the blog cut though...

  13. @Duane - That is your room silly. Don't you recognize your framed picture of Doug sitting on the top shelf? And you lost all that weight because you won't drag your own butt into the kitchen to make your own sandwich.

You have intrigued me with the all the Riesling talk. I might have to give it a try. Doug...could you fetch that for me?

  14. @Laura - None of my sad faces should have made the blog. I really have not shame!
