Drugs and Sweat

Marathon Training Week 4 - Day 2

Today called for 4 miles at race pace (10:00).  It was hotter then a mother.  Humid as a all get out.

Not the most flattering picture ever, but I do love my Champion tops!

Randee looking all toned and chipper.
Randee's hammy started getting angry so we stopped at three miles.  She has a Chiro appointment tomorrow.  We ended up being a little slow, with a 10:20 pace.

This is us dying for the 18th time, and sweating like hookers at confession.
Today was a suck butt day.  Glad it's over.

Monday was much better.  Doug went to the grocery store with me (which is very unusual, but was enjoyable).  He picked up some steaks to grill, and we had the tastiest lunch ever.

Steak, Feta Salad and Garlic Roasted Potatoes.  Oh yes, and don't forget the wine.
While at the grocery store I picked up some Fage yogurt.  Gloria had recommend it to me.

I'm usually not a Greek Yogurt fan, but this stuff is dang good.
Okay, so let's talk about drugs.....or supplements.....or vitamins.  Whatever you want to call them.

While reading skimming these books:

.....I decided on the following supplements.

Green Tea Extract is for increasing the metabolism.  This I need.  I felt a little jittery the first day, but have been fine ever since.  I take one per day in the morning with breakfast.

Glutamine is for muscle recovery.  It suggest you take one 30 minutes before or after a workout.  I have been taking it after weekday runs and before weekend runs.  It seems to be working, no soreness!

Omega 3 Fish Oil has many benefits, including lowering cholesterol and can help improve athletic performance.  I take one a day with breakfast.

I am trying this multivitamin for the first time.  It claims to "bring more energy to life with a unique combination of vitamins, minerals, fruits, vegetables and other essential nutrients."  I take one tablet a day with breakfast.

Move Free Advanced is Glucosamine and Chondroitin with MSM.  This is to help my old achy knees (which have been much better with new shoes by the way.)  I take one tablet a day with breakfast.
Alright, that's all I got.  There were other suggestions, but I opted to start with these.  It already takes me an additional 15 minute to get ready in the morning just opening all those lids and sucking down horse pills.  I'm pretty sure snorting crank would be easier.  Oh well....

I want to know what supplements you take and why.  Do they make you better in bed?  Six foot tall and gorgeous?  Help your dancing skills?  Give you gas?  I want all the goods!  Share away....

Happy Tuesday Night
I'm off to watch the Mavericks play the first round of the Super Bowl....or something like that.

Oh yeah, and this is your last chance to vote.  Competition ends tonight, and right now were are LOSERS!

Yogurt, Swim, Friends, Repeat

Marathon Training Week 4 - Day 1

Our favorite day of the week...Yogilates.  Today we got crazy and did it outside, by the pool.  It was pretty much perfect.

It was all Randee's idea.  The most brilliant idea she has ever had.

Perhaps that yellow tanktop is a little bright.
The sun came up while we were getting our yoga on.  This was our plan.  There was a nice breeze.  I think we should move our yoga outside every Monday from now on.

My lopsided tree pose.

Umm, yeah.  Let's focus on her impressive quad muscles and ignore her chest thrusting in the air.
Now lets go back to Saturday.....

After our run, Little Brittany and I made a Target run.  We had no problem entertaining ourselves.

We started with the hats.

I think Brittany needs this floppy hat.

Little Brittany was rockin' this purple swimsuit and coverup.

I found the Champion tanks I love....and shorts to match.  Score!

Then we moved on to the patio furniture.  Please ignore the large amount of thigh in your face.

Not sure about his monkey pose, but Britt's legs are sure looking good!

Then back to hats....but these did not fit so well.

The toy section is always loads of fun.
Oh yes, and while we were out we needed a snack.  And man, we found the bombdiggity.

Yogurt Story
A ridiculous amount of yogurt choices.

An even more ridiculous amount of topping choices.

Lots of fresh fruit.
So many decisions to make.

You even get to select your spoon color.
Brittany on the left, me on the right.

We were so excited with our find.

Chuck and Cheri were having a cookout on Saturday afternoon.

This is not Saturday...but this is Chuck and Cheri.
I ate this delish salad with BBQ pulled pork.

They also made crawfish.
Little Brittany was all dolled up....she had a date.
The party migrated over to our backyard for some swimming.  It was crazy hot.

Randee's son Paxton got lost in this bag of Cheetos.

Randee and Brayden cheesing it up by the pool

Gloria, Randee and I were all color coordinated.  Fancy.
Fun night with friends.

Sunday was not much different.

We had a family day by the pool.
Then back to Yogurt Story so the family could give it a try.

The kids thought it was the best place ever.

Then we went to Half Price Books and loaded up on summer reading.  Chuck and Cheri stopped by for more pool time in the evening.  Overall a fantastic weekend.  The best part, we still have another day!  Whoot!

I'll leave you with this.....

Doug's big ol' head......

.....Do you think it looks like Audrie's filthy face?
I think they really look alike.

Don't forget to vote!

Happy Memorial Day.
Thanks to Doug and all the other who have served and those currently doing so!

I Ain't No Hick

Marathon Training Week 3 - Day 6

Today called for 7 miles at 11ish pace.  It was near 80 degrees with some humidity and wind.

We ran downtown Fort Worth.  Somehow we found this hill.  No more hills!

Kudos to Randee for sharing her boob sweat with us.
Me dying for the 189th time.
Little Brittany was not impressed with our dying.  She was ready for coffee.
We ran at our 'slower than your granny' pace again.  Hey, the training plan says "slow and conversational" pace.  So that's what we did!

Yes Randee, you really should get those eyebrows waxed.
I grabbed Randee's coffee for her, and forgot to get one of those brown thingies that go around the cup.  She was "Ms. Attitude" about it.

So, I had to proudly display my brown thingy, that I did not forget to put around my own cup.  What's up with the one chunk of hair flapping around on my forehead?

Both of 'our' outside tables were full when we arrived.  Rude.  Don't they know those tables are reserved for the Bitchy Runners on Saturday mornings?  Finally they left and we got to relocate outside.  It was a good thing.  We were really starting to stink up the place.

Lots of good people watching today.  There was the repeat crazy man who carries lots of bags and today was all decked out as Uncle Sam for Memorial Day.

Then this ol' man came to talk...and wouldn't go away.
Curious George wanted to know if we were runners.  No, we just sweat a lot sittin' here drinking our coffee.  Then he wanted to know where our sticks were.  What?  "To keep away the boys."  Oh.  Then he proceeded with his creepy laugh and said, "I might be married, but I ain't blind."  Then Mrs. Curious George walked out and he shut up and walked away.

Last night the kids wanted to go out and celebrate being promoted to the 4th and 6th grade.  I'm pretty sure they are getting older and I'm just hanging out at 29.  Audrie and I selected Boston's because we love their gluten free pizza.

That's some good stuff!

I jumped on that thing like a wild woman.  It was soooo good!
I washed it down with this tasty Mango Margarita.

Doug wouldn't pose for me....so poo on you Doug.

Let's just say Trent did not leave hungry.
Um yeah, and the temp was 100 degrees yesterday.  Great.
In other good news, my car has a windshield and back window again.

Mr. Auto Glass Fixer Man working away.
I still have to deal with the dents, and I realized my back speaker no longer works due to water damage.  I've got an appointment on June 6th to deal with all that.  At least it's drivable again!

I'm off to run to Target with Little Brittany.  Let me leave you with this.  A video of me and my possibly hick self.  My running peeps are constantly making fun of my word choices.  Since I have no shame, I'm putting it here so my 2 loyal blog readers can weigh in.  Am I a hick?

Have a FUNtastic Saturday!
