Whine and Wine Wednesday

Workout:  1 mile @ 10:39 pace / 2 miles @ 8:50 pace.  This was our first run together since the half.  See whine below for more details.

My whine for this Wednesday....

My running partner Randee ran her first half a couple of weeks ago when we did the Rock 'n' Roll Dallas Half.  She did awesome by the way.  But from the middle of the race until a few days after the race her stomach and digestive system were not happy with her.

This is the last %&!@* race I'm ever running.
Why is this my whine?  Because she is losing her motivation to run based on that race.  We have a half coming up on May 1st and she is already mentally checking out and dreading it.  She can totally rock that race.  I'm selfish.  I don't want to lose my running partner!  I'm hopeful that the Heels and Hills Half will be fantastic and she will be all about running again!

And what about the wine you ask.....

I'm debating.  I took my kids to a fundraiser for an ill teacher at Freddy's after work.   I had no intentions of consuming 6000 calories while I was there.  But.....

I ordered a bun-less double meat hamburger and fries.
And drank a few sips of Root Beer.  I never drink soda.

And if that was not enough calories for one meal.  I was helping the kids order a 'make your own sundae' and decided I could not live without having this...

Hot Fudge Sundae with pecans, heath bar and whip cream.
So I'm really not sure I have any room left for wine.  Such a travesty.

However, last night I did try a new purchase from our weekend Costco trip.

Very tasty.  $10ish I think.  That is usually the price point I go for.
I got many compliments on my outfit today.

Yeah, I have no idea what this pose is about.  I'll blame it on all the sugar and grease I consumed at dinner.
Thankfully no one seemed to notice my pasty white legs, toenails in need of a major pedicure and...

Nasty, dirty unfixed hair.
Happy Whine and Wine Wednesday!

What's your whine and wine for the week?

  3. My first half was AWFUL. Terrible stomach issues. My second one: PERFECT. I was so suprised but I felt great and had that runner's high afterwards.
So tell Randee not to judge a race based on the first one! It will go SO much better. Have you guys done any long runs since that one?

  4. I just stumbled across your blog and I am super excited because I've been looking for more DFW area bloggers and you are the first I've found! My friends and I have run a very similar line up for what you guys have already run and we will be doing many of the same races that you guys have coming up. My blog is not nearly as cool as yall's is and I'm working on improving it but I would love to be able to meet up with other bloggers and grow the DFW blogging community. Good luck in all your runs and I will be following you guys!

  6. Tell Randee that my first was awful two... second, I was floating... knew what to expect... just start out slower, and wait to push until the second half.

Heels and Hills is a great race with awesome medals. It's out and back, so you can cheer your friends even if they are a different pace... speaking of which, it's about time we met... we've gone to too many of the same races to have not met.

Off and Running - I'm also a DFW blogger... and there are lots and lots more that I can send you to in the area!
