Whine and Wine Wednesday

Marathon Training Week 5 - Day 3

That would be us!  Our first ever fartlek workout today.  It was already 80 degrees at 4:45am and humid

I'm pretty sure my career in car modeling is about to take off.

Can't a girl tie her shoe in peace?
The plan called for 15 minutes of warm up, 15 minutes of sprint/recover from light pole to light pole, and than a 5 minute cool down.

In reality we did 13 minutes of warm up, 13 minutes of sprint/recover and 10 minutes of cool down.  We did the loop around Randee's neighborhood and this was how it worked out.  We were fine with that, and felt like we got a great workout.  Next time we will focus more on exact times.

I'm pretty sure we could deep fry some gummy bears with the grease from our foreheads alone.
 Moving right along....

WHINE

1.  I'm dealing with insurance for both a home and auto claim from the hail storm last month.  It's a hassle.  I do realize it could be so much worse, but why does working with insurance companies have to be such a pain in the butt?

2.  My house is a mess.  I should clean it.  However, I would rather sip coffee and blog about my dirty house.

3.  So far we are experiencing a hotter than normal Texas summer....well, it's not even officially summer yet.  Why oh why would this have to happen the ONE year I'm training for a marathon?  I'm hopeful this is a fluke weather event and it will be 70 and low humidity the entire month of July.  Not that it's ever 70 in July, but a girl can always dream.

4.  I wanna be on a beach vacation, right this very minute.

Double fisting it, while wearing scuba gear and laying on a boat is the LIFE!
Alright, I guess that's enough whining for now.  I was on a bit of a roll today!

WINE

Last night I had some chilled Riesling while sitting my the pool....

....getting serenaded by Lil' Dougie.
I'm to lazy to walk the four feet to the kitchen to find the name of the Riesling, just know it was good.  However, not nearly as good as my all time favorite Riesling.

Bernkasteler Badstube Riesling Spatlese.  You got that?  I refer to it as Dr. Pauly.  And to be real honest with you, I have no idea what vintage(s) I have had.  All I know is that we found the goods at Costco, fell in love, and now the stuff is hard to find.  I hate when that happens.

It's 6:40am, and even I won't start on wine that early.  So for now it's Whine and Coffee Wednesday.  I'm sure I'll find something worth drinking in the cellar this evening, but it'll have to come from the "Angie keep your hands off" section.  The purple section is empty.  Looks like someone needs to go to Costco STAT!

Oh yes, and last night after we came back inside Doug started hypervenelating.

Look real close at my bangs. I have a bug in my hair.
He was freaking out and I was determined to get a picture for the blog.  See how much I love you guys!

And one last thing....

I'm thinking I need to backup my iPhone and delete some pictures.  1,263 seems like a  bit much.
Happy Whine and Wine Wednesday!

What's your whine and wine for the week?

  1. Your weather reports scare me to death -- I'm in unusually cool Cali but will be in your neck of the woods starting next week for a week and am trying to figure out how to maintain my training without getting up at 4.30am. I imagine, I'll just be getting up at 4.30am. Unfortunately that's 2.30am CA time so it all just seems so overwhelming. And hot.

  2. Crap! I just looked to see how many iPhone photos I had, I've got 2936 photos. It's about time to back them up!

It's In the high 90's here in Chicagoland. Ugh. I can't run outside. I "ran" a half marathon on Saturday and finished an hour slower than normal due to the high temps. I pretty much walked the entire thing.

  4. @Tricia - I'm not gonna lie...it's hot. Early is definitely best! Where in Texas are you going?

  5. @Xaarlin - Girl you better back that phone up and hit delete! It amazes me how many images the iPhone will hold!

Hot running is not fun. We did a 10K last year in near 100 degree heat and about died. It's gonna be interesting when we hit 20 milers in August!

  6. @Mon Amour - It was our first...and it was kinda fun. Something different. The sprint/recover made the time pass pretty fast. Try it and let me know what you think!

  8. Great job on the fartleks! I was supposed to do sprints this morning and I overslept. Doh. Guess who's doing them tomorrow??

I have been warned about the weather there next week. It's humid here - but I've heard it hotter there. Can't wait! I maybe be doing two EARLY morning treadmill runs - blah.

  10. That is so freaking HOT!!! Oh my gosh. I would totally suck at working out. I mean I have a hard enough time when I randomly try to run in the morning, but your mornings seem to be hotter than my days!
