Whine and Wine Wednesday

Workout:  1 Mile warm up at 11:00 pace / 2 Miles at 9:40 pace / Cool Down

The back and hamstrings actually felt okay on this morning's run.  WooHoo!

"That wasn't so bad" was Randee's comment today.  You don't understand.  If she ain't complaining something is wrong.

No wonder I'm always getting hurt.  My form is all kinds of hunched and lopsided.

Yeah, like we worked out hard enough to look this miserable.

On my way out the door this morning I asked the always sassy Audrie to take my picture.  "Why are you always wanting your picture taken?" was her response.  "Because I'm so cute."  With a smirk on her face she took this picture.

"You might look cute if I do this."
That darn kid cut my head off.   I swear.  So after grounding her until she is 21 I made her take another picture.

Hands on hip girl.  Perhaps the headless picture was better.

It's Wednesday.  You know what that means?  You get to listen to me whine.  Shut up.  You know you hit refresh a million times ever Wednesday waiting for this post to hit.

Whine of the week:

I'm getting freakin' old.  A little yard work turns into a beating.  I'm sunburned.  I have a strained back. My hamstrings tensed up like a fat lady seeing a kid grab the last cookie.  It's totally ridiculous.

There are also a few humans in my life that I would like to no longer have to deal with.  Their actions are never illegal.  But totally unethical.  I may bitch, but I'm nice about it.  It seriously wears on the nerves.  And my patience.  And my sanity.  Calgon take me away.  Or them.  Please.

Wine of the week:

The purple section has a few choices this week.  Thank goodness.
I'm thinking I will be sippin' on a Tempranillo later this evening.  I hate foam rolling.  I'm thinking that sippin' wine while enduring the agony would help.  But will I spill my wine?  That would be horrible. I'll give it a try and post pictures.  Successful or not.

I'm also thinking a girl's night out is in order.

Good times.  Good times.  On the bar is always better then at the bar.
Happy Whine and Wine Wednesday!

What's your whine and wine for the week?

We're Freakin' Famous!

Workout:  Yogilates.  Well, kinda.  My back is still jacked so my form was all to hell.  But I tried.

I'm pretty sure that Oprah will be calling anytime now.  SkinnyRunner would be the running world blog queen.  We were featured as her Cat Lady Blog of the day.  Oh yeah.  Check out all the awesome things she I wrote about us.

Major user error was causing me to not be able to print screen.  So being the genius I am, I took a picture of the screen with my iPhone.  Hence the reason for the crappy quality.
I got this text from Talia and her sexy legs while I was at work.

Focus on today's conversation.  Not us talking about her sexy chicken legs.
Anywho, I was on my way out the door to get my super tight hammies rubbed.

Ahh, the adorable Cynthia and her magic hands.
I really think we should have a girls night out at Cynthia's shop.  Massages and facials for everyone.  Heck, we could even get drunk and all do Brazilian bikini waxes on each other!
My rub down was marvelous.  The hammies are still tight, but do feel better.

Then it was off to pick up the little people from school.

All this construction was messing with my relaxation.
The kids were in great moods.

I'm sure she was saying "Mom you're super cool."
Trent thought it was Christmas when he got to the front door and found this....

The new Nerds book.
He keeps trying to read the book to me out loud.  "Mom this is seriously the best book ever."  Um, I'm sure it is.  But your mom is kinda famous now and has a very important blog post to write.

Blogging snack of champions.  Nut Thins.  Havarti cheese.  Broccoli.  Tomatoes.  Sausage.  Hummus.  Riesling.
I really did eat more then one cheery tomato and one spear of broccoli.  I thought I was starving to death and sucked down half the plate before I stopped to take a picture.  That was also a new container of hummus.  Don't judge.  It's normal to eat one entire container a night.

What the hell ever happed to Randee you ask?

She is at home bitchin' about something I'm sure.
I called to tell her we were famous.  She has even agreed to make a guest appearance on the blog again sometime soon.  I refuse to let her quit running.  She will run with me.  And she will like it.

That's all I got for today.  Tune in tomorrow for Whine and Wine Wednesday.  I got tons to whine about.  Oh, and of course there will be wine!  The purple section is stocked and ready to go.  I think a good night of foam rolling and sippin' wine sounds fun.

Happy Tuesday!

Dirty, Grumpy, Tight and Achy!

Workout:  3 miles at a snails pace.

Yesterday my back seemed to losen up and I proceeded to finish my weekend agenda of landscaping.

When I was finished I was filthy dirty from head to toe.  Ignore the knee pudge.
And was utterly exhausted.  Even though I look more like I'm pouting in this picture.
But the backyard is now pool party ready.

You can't see it, but I planted dark purple petunias in that flowerbed around the bay windows.

Ahh, many lazy hours will be spent in that lounge chair.
However, last night my back started aching again and my hamstrings tightened up like crazy.  In my three seconds of research I learned that lower back strains could cause tight hammies and vice versa.  So I think this is all related.

My range of motion for stretching is ridiculous.  I can't even touch my hands to the ground when I lean forward.  I iced.  Now I'm doing heat.  Considering a Chiro visit.  Begging Doug to rub the hammies.

That's enough complaining for now.

Happy Grumpy Monday!

Spring Teaser

Gorgeous day in Texas!
Everyone was outside after work enjoying this spring teaser!

This mornings workout was kind of a joke!  It was only in the low 40's, but for some reason we were both super cold.  We walked about 1.5 miles and did some stretching.  Hardly worth getting up for, but better then nothing I guess!

A went back to the chiropractor this afternoon.  Doing the three times a day icing and twice a day stretching & foam rolling.  Got to keep those hammies loose!

After work I really wanted to hang on a patio and have a drink.  I really think everyone should get off at 3pm on Friday....especially when it is so pretty outside!

I picked up the kids and we went to On the Border.  I had way to many of these....

I REALLY love their salsa!

and it will take me at least 15 miles of running to run of this....

Very good, but actually a bit too sweet!  Didn't stop me from sucking it down though!

The kids enjoyed themselves and Gloria joined us.  A nice way to end the work week.

I think Audrie was about to punch him in the face.  Such sibling love!

As I write this I am in my usual position on the couch....icing of course.  Look at this lovely picture Trent took of me foam rolling last night.

No, it's not your eyes.  This is a super blurry picture.  Don't be hatin' on my sexy outfit of leopard pajama pants, work shirt and brown sock.  It's all the rage in Kenya with the elite runners!

Now I'm about to chill and read

I've heard great things about the book.  Be looking for a book review soon!

Oh yes, and because I know you are all wondering...

My snot is almost gone and I might go to bed without taking NyQuil tonight.  I might have withdrawls on the NyQuil thing.  Do they have a 12 step program for that?

Happy Weekend!

Sexy Legs

Workout:  4 miles @ 10:59 pace (halleSTINKIN'lujah!)

Finally a good run!  Our training said to do 4 miles at 11:24 pace, so we were actually a little too fast!

Sorry, horrible iphone self portrait!

The hammy was a little weird today so I went to the chiropractor after work.  Therapist said the knot was not back, but it was much tighter then it was at the end of last week.

I guess I'm going to have to make icing, rolling and stretching part of the daily routine.  This means an earlier wake up to fit it all in!  My alarm already goes off at 4:15 a.m.!
Heat / Stretch / Roll / Workout / Roll / Stretch / Ice

While we're on the subject of legs....

This is why I never ride my bike in my thong.

You think that is a man or a woman?

Maybe with a butt load of running and yoga they will ask me to be a Jennifer Aniston leg double!

Dang she has good legs!

What is your pre and post race routine?  Any past or current injuries you have to baby?  Who do you think has the sexiest legs?

Too Cold To Hold Race Review

Today was the Too Cold To Hold.

Long sleeved tee and hat we got in our packet.

Angie woke up an hour early to heat, foam roll, stretch and tape the hammy.  Kind of ridiculous, but I think it helped!

We started with Starbucks.  Angie jumped out of the car to take a picture of Randee and Brittany.  The car in front of us thought we were nuts.  Nothing new.

Then we picked up the non sweating, full makeup, 'I'm pretty much the sexiest person I know' Talia.  We piled into her 2 door sports car, with the two 4 foot nothings in the front and Brittany and A cramped in the back.  Logical I know, but anything to keep R happy!  Believe me, you don't want to give her anything to bitch about at 6am!

So, we got to the race and it was pretty easy parking.  We decided to go ahead and get in line for the port-a-potties before the line got to crazy.  We entertained ourselves by taking pictures while we waited our turn.
Sassy Talia, Giggly Brittany and The OMG is she actually smiling? Randee

I'm really not sure why I look 2 foot taller then everyone in these pictures.  I swear I'm really not 7 foot tall!

We talked a lady waiting in line into taking her gloves off and taking our picture.  Yes, we did this entire model shoot while waiting for the potty!

Finally, we are ready to move on.  We did a bit of stretching and cheesing.  Well, Randee and I stretched.  The young kids with us just rolled their eyes.

The Bitchy Runners ready to go!

Randee decided she would try her first GU.  I think she liked it!

She could not decide if she wanted to spit or swallow.

She finally chased it down with some water.

Then it was time to line up for the start.  Talia has her emo face on.

Look at all our awesome shoes!  Brittany is the odd ball!

Talia and Brittany were breaking it down with some dance moves as we waited for the gun!

Once we were off the crowd thinned out rather quickly.  The weather was in the 40's and very nice.  We warmed up quickly as we started running.  They had water and Powerade every two miles or so.  We had our own water so we just ran on by.  There was never really any congestion at the water stops, and everything seemed to run smoothly.

The course was an out and back.  It was a pretty route around White Rock Lake.  It was rather flat with only a couple of small up and down hills.  With the hamstring issues this was my biggest concern!

Randee and I ran slow and chatted the first six miles.

We passed the time taking pictures of each other and entertaining the crowd.

Mile 4 already?  The race seemed to go by very quickly!

We saw Brittany and Talia on the turn around.  Go GURLS!

At mile 5 we took our second GU.  We were both feeling pretty good!

Coming up on mile 6!

At mile 6 we turned on our music for the first time and decided to pick up the pace.  Randee was gone.  I tried to go, but the hammy did not think that was such a good idea.  Actually,  my other leg was the main pain today.  At mile 8 I actually switched my knee brace from the left to right leg to try and finish!

Everyone finished and lived to tell about it!

Randee's husband brought out her boys to see the race.  They ran in with her!

Our finish times:

Brittany - 1:29:13.00
Talia - 1:29:15.00
Randee - 1:41:30.00
Angie - 1:43:17.00

They had beer, munchies and massages after the race.  The massages were awesome, and the line was surprisingly short!

Randee had her foot rubbed!

A had her hammy stretched and OOH it felt good!

Brittany got extra rubbing time...not sure what was up with that!

Talia was chillin' and cheesin'!
By this time we were starving!  We were off to BJ's for some grub!

Brittany and Randee munchin' on some chips ans salsa!

Oh my gosh this is GOOD!

Our waiter was looking for some sympathy with his 11 mile bike ride on Saturday.  He hit a tree or some such.  Um yeah, that is great, now get our darn food!

R and A were freezing and opted for a Coffee and Baileys that was rather tasty!

By the time we were done we were cranky, tired, sore and ready to be home!

Yeah, that smile from earlier was long gone.  R was back to her bitchy self!

Little Brittany was ready for a nap!

Good times!  This race was all about finishing and seeing if the hammy was ready to run again!  I am hopeful the recumbent bike is history and we can now continue with our training.

After we ran A took her stinky self to Farpointe Cellars and met the husband for some wine.

A iced in the car on the way.

R went home and spent 13+ minutes in this pot of ice water.

Over all a great race and a great day!
