Three Thrills Thursday

Marathon Training Week 2 - Day 4

Today is "Let Jillian Kick Your Butt" day.  It's my least favorite day of the week.

I died 182 times during the 40 minute video.
Randee tried her best to oversleep, but still made it in time.
When we were done we had a very comical episode of me trying to kill an enormous bug on the ceiling in the entry hall.  It involved a broom, lots of girl squealing and waking up Doug.  It sucks that we have no pictures to share.  But I won the battle with the bug...that's all that really matters.

Thrill 1:

Today is Ms. Thang's birthday!

Happy Birthday Talia!
The Bitchy Runners will be taking her out to celebrate tomorrow night.  You know there will be a fun blog to read on Saturday morning!

Thrill 2:

I was channeling Rachael Ray last night and cooked this meal up in under 30 minutes.

I love these sweet potato fries!
Tuna sandwich with lettuce, sprouts and tomatoes on an Udi's gluten free bagel.
Super good, and I even ate on a real plate for once...not throw away!

Thrill 3:

I'm thinking of getting solar nails again.

I had them last summer when we were in Mexico.  Look how long that straw is for that itty bitty cup.

Should I or shouldn't I?  I do have horrible and horrendous finger nails!

From one shameless bitchy runner to another...did you vote today?

If not, click here to vote!

That's all I've got for today.

Happy Thrilling Thursday!

Leave a comment and wish Talia a Happy Birthday!

Also, Solar Nails or No Solar Nails?

Dat’s how I roll…

Marathon Training Week 2 - Day 2

Tuesday's call for race day pace.  Today's goal was 3 miles at 10:00.

Please don't notice I'm wearing the same shirt as yesterday.
Good morning...did you see my boobs yet today?
Little Brittany joined us this morning.  She likes to run way ahead of us so we can look at her butt.
We did sprint up on her at the end and she about peed her pants when Randee scared her to death.  Greatness.

The moon was huge and bright this morning.
We averaged 9:44 pace...a little fast...but we had to try and keep up with Brittany!

Shameless hussy begging on my knees.....Please vote for us in the Top 25 Health and Fitness Mom Blogs contest.  You can vote once per day.  HERE is the link!

We have a guest blogger today!  I'm super excited.

Hello everyone! It’s me, Talia.  Don’t fall out of your seat. Yes, it’s true, I am about to share some awesomeness with you.  I know Angie (along with Randee and Brittany) give me a hard time about my non-sweaty self and how I always run with full makeup.  Let me break this here down on this here blog:

A.  I do sweat.  My body sweats but fortunately, my face doesn’t.  It’s like Lady Gaga says, “I was born this way.” I can’t help it if my face doesn’t sweat! Henceforth, running with makeup on works for me.  I’ve always worn makeup on a daily basis.  I was brought up that way...never leave the house without makeup on.  I went on a run yesterday and took some pics to prove it.

Yes, I look whack but then again I am running in the heat.
Here is a pic of me with my eyes closed, so you can see that I am wearing eye liner. Heck! You never know who you are going to run into on the trail!

This was the Hottest Half in August.  Texas in August = Hotter than Africa!!
I was not sweating on my face…other places…ha!

B.  Running = Fashion.  Some of you will agree with me, running is a social sport.  You gotta look fly while you attempt to look like you know what you’re doin’! I’ve been known to wear pearls and diamond necklaces to match my outfit on race day.  Gotta look good for the pics!

Designer glasses and hair down…dat’s how I roll.  Before the race anyway!
See…Diamond earring and full makeup. Gotta look good ALWAYS!

C.  Lip balm/Lip gloss: This goes hand in hand with lookin’ fly.  Besides, while you run your lips get dry.  So, I always carry my Luna Lip balm or LancĂ´me juice tube.  In the cooler temps, I like to run in a vest because they have lots of pockets.  I always run with my lip balm/lip gloss, phone (Yes, sometimes I text during a race), iPod shuffle, GU’s, tampons (if it’s that time of the month).  Now that it’s hotter, I’ve been sporting my spibelt and it’s wicked awesome!

The moral of this story blog is to always look your best when you are running.  If you look and feel great, more than likely you will do great!

I hope this inspired you to look fly!

Toddles,

Talia

An Unproper Race Report

Heels and Hills Half Marathon

We ran.

Look at Randee all kinds of crackhead happy.
May I add my husband mentioned my wide hips in the image above.  Thanks honey.

We finished.

70 degrees at the start of the race.  50 degrees at the finish.
We had a rain delay.

We had a shortened course due to weather.

A proper race review to come.  For now I still can't breath.

I really am this pleasant to be around at the moment.

I think I need more netti pot! You can never have enough netti pot.
I leave you with this psycho image I thought was too ridiculous yesterday, but seems perfect right now.

The Cool Kids

Did we have a weekend?

I was so crazy busy I didn't notice.  It was a very enjoyable weekend, but booked from top to bottom.  I have so many pictures and things to share I'm gonna have to do two posts.

Let's start with Friday shall we.

Doug was replacing the hot water heater.  Yeah, the one that leaked all into my master closet.

I was there for moral support.  It was crazy hot.  I think right around 90.
Between the two of us, we made about 900 trips to Home Depot before the day was done.

For exciting things like Nipples.

While there I picked up some inspiration for my summer remodeling project (s).  I'm gonna be busy!
I'm thinking we ended the night with wine, but I really can't remember.

It was rainy Saturday morning so we skipped our long run.  Or was it that we were lazy?  I can't remember that either.  But I do know we did not run.

However, I did get my hair did.

I had never set under the steamer before, but I kinda liked it.
The hair do.  Don't mind the crazy eyes.  I think the steamer messed with my sanity.
Then this picture status on Facebook....

Ready for a pool party.
Led to this....

Runners gone wild.
We had an impromptu runners night out.

Wine and Legs.
A bunch of nasty runner's feet.  We all had pink toenails.  Or at least pink skin.  Randee is missing a few toenails at the moment so she just painted some on.
Doug crashed our party.

He loves hanging with the ladies.  We love him keeping our wine glasses full.
Brittany couldn't come because she was hanging out with her less cool friends.  So we proceeded to have a "We're having more fun then you are!" photo text war.

Just another wild Saturday night.
I would post pictures of Brittany and her uncool friends, but none of them were blog appropriate.  Perverts I tell ya!  I'm pretty sure we won.

Seriously, could anyone have more fun then this?
We had a great time, and got in bed just in time for the Easter Bunny to arrive!

Warrior Dash Review

I have been so excited for this race!

The Warrior Dash North Texas was on both Saturday and Sunday.  They had waves starting every 30 minutes all day long. We were in the 9am wave on Sunday morning.  The first wave of the day.  Brilliant decision.  It was not nearly as hot.  Parking was a breeze.  Shuttles from parking to the race site were not covered with mud upon arrival.  Obstacles were fresh....if this made any difference.  Oh yes, and the port-a-potties were clean.

Talia even said..."that port-a-potty smelt good."  What the hell?

Six of us crammed into my car ready for the race.  Doug stayed home after having to work until 5am.  Bummer!
Starbucks as always.  Then on our way.  Parking and catching the shuttle was quick and easy.

Super Model Talia and Wrestler Brittany.

Alecia and her redneck prom date Brad.

Entertaining myself on the school bus shuttle with self portraits.
Packet pick up was painless.  We had about 45 minutes before race time.

Our running group minus Randee.  Remember, she does not do mud.
While waiting to start, Brad and Brittany decided I needed my sleeves ripped off.  Teeth were involved.
And we're off.

Obstacle 1:  Slithering Swamp

Look Mom, no hands!

Obstacle 2:  Terror Town.  Brittany looks real scared.

King of the Hill.
Obstacle 3:  Road Rage

Dazed and Confused.
Obstacle 4:  Barricade Breakdown.

That prom dress isn't slowing her down.
Obstacle 5:  Great Warrior Wall

I got this.

How are the nails Talia?
Obstacle 6:  Teetering Traverse.  It was a race.  Brad won.
Obstacle 7:  Arachnophobia

What the heck is going on here?
Alecia found her a better lookin' prom date along the way.
We did have to actually do some trail runnin' between the obstacles.

But then there would always be another one of these signs.
Obstacle 8:  Blackout.  You had to crawl on your hands and knees (or roll in Alecia's case) in the pitch black.  My cheap butt throw away camera didn't have a flash.  So no inside pics.
Obstacle 9:  Chaotic Crossover.  Get that butt in the air.
Obstacle 10:  Hay Fever.

Jumping off the hay stack.
Obstacle 11:  Cargo Climb.  My favorite!
Still lookin' good in the prom dress.
Obstacle 12:  Deadweight Drifter

Trying to get my tired butt over the log.

When you first get out of the water and try to start running it is very slippery.  Alecia did a spread eagle, face first.
Obstacle 13:  Warrior Roast.  Look at the lovebirds hand in hand over the fire.

Obstacle 14:  Muddy Mayhem.  Alecia had just done a belly flop into the mud.
Oh my goodness that was fun.

Obligatory muddy picture.  Ignore my ridiculous arm pose.
After all the fun we got sprayed down with a couple of  fire hoses.

Then free beer!
Me and my little (cough, cough) brother.

Gloria jammin' to the live band.
Gloria brought her camera and took a ton of pictures of us at the finish.  Stay tuned for more pics.  I know you can't wait!

Big butt pile of donated muddy shoes.
We quickly caught the shuttle and headed back to the car.  We all smelled like wet dog and ass.  I can't even image what the bus smells like by the late afternoon.

Starting to look a little haggered.  Well me anyway,  Talia is still lookin' fine.
Bonus!  They had showers right by where we parked.  We were able to clean up a little and put on dry clothes before heading home. But believe me, there was still dirt in places it shouldn't have been.  Second Talia quote of the day:  "I'm gonna have to clean the dirt out of my cootch."  Yikes.

Then we kicked Talia's tired butt (and dirty bits) out and grabbed some grub.

OMG that was delish!

Gloria and Little Brittany.

Look at the different expression on each of our faces.  And yes, I went to Chili's with my warrior paint still on my face, and smelling like a dog's ass.
 Here's the bling:

We had a blast.  We are already talking about our costumes for next year.  I'm thinking wedding dress and tux top for Doug and me.

Mud Run....now checked off my bucket list!
