120 Hour Rewind

Hold on folks.  We are about to do a quick rewind from this morning's workout all the way back to Thursday evening.  Hold on tight...here we go...

Monday morning at 4:45am - Marathon Training Day 1.  3 miles at 9:52 pace.  Our goal pace was 10:00, so we were basically right on the money.  It was in t he 70's and extremely humid.  We were both sweating like whores in church.

Day one of training...smiling at this point.  Check back with me in a couple of months.
Already bitchy and it's only day one.
Sunday was Mother's Day...just in case you did not know that.  Anyway, we spent the afternoon at my parent's house.  It was super.

My lovely parents cooked up a delish feast.
Four generations of fantastic women right there.
I considered this my personal bowl of peel and eat shrimp.  Love that stuff!

We were having crawfish, but apparently Doug thought we were smoking doobies.
I was gagging and showing off all my wrinkles.
Alecia was trying to pierce her nose.
I got Alecia from Tin Can Treader this kickbutt wine glass for Mother's Day.  The other side says Loverboy.
Sunday morning was fantastic!

This tray was delivered to my bed.

Courtesy of Audrie.  She made toast and coffee all by herself.  Then Trent wrote me a poem and Audrie made me a card.  She even adorned the tray with my flower from the Mom's Run.
Saturday night I had a lazy night at home sippin' wine and reading.

I finished this book.  Super enjoyed it.  Expect a book review soon.
Saturday Afternoon I had a marvelous massage and facial from Cynthia.

This picture is from a previous massage, but I'm sure I looked just the same lying there.

The gorgeous Cynthia.
Saturday morning Trent and I ran the Mom's Run.  You can read the race review here.

We had a great time, and ran the 5K in under 30 minutes.  Whoot.
Friday night Doug and I went out with some friends to Empa Mundo.  It was a hole in the wall and was great.

The empanadas were not gluten free.  I cut them open and ate the filling.  However, they told me if I gave them advance notice, they would make me gluten free ones next time.  Awesome!
There was definitely lots of great wine going around.  Tom & Martha tasting the Riesling.
Jim and I were chatting about scuba diving and sippin' on something red and delicious.
The owner serenaded us with a couple of songs.
Then Doug took a turn on the guitar.
Thursday night Randee and I had an impromptu Cinco de Mayo celebration.  I only had an hour while the kids were at drum and piano lessons.  Don't all good mom's gulp down margaritas while waiting on their kids?

Those things were super cheap, super strong and super yummy.
I was responsible and only had one.
We took a quick self portrait in the parking lot and then we were off to be moms again.
There you have it.  The past 120 hours of my life.  Now you can go on about your day.

Happy Monday!

Whine and Wine Wednesday

Workout:  1 Mile warm up at 11:00 pace / 2 Miles at 9:40 pace / Cool Down

The back and hamstrings actually felt okay on this morning's run.  WooHoo!

"That wasn't so bad" was Randee's comment today.  You don't understand.  If she ain't complaining something is wrong.

No wonder I'm always getting hurt.  My form is all kinds of hunched and lopsided.

Yeah, like we worked out hard enough to look this miserable.

On my way out the door this morning I asked the always sassy Audrie to take my picture.  "Why are you always wanting your picture taken?" was her response.  "Because I'm so cute."  With a smirk on her face she took this picture.

"You might look cute if I do this."
That darn kid cut my head off.   I swear.  So after grounding her until she is 21 I made her take another picture.

Hands on hip girl.  Perhaps the headless picture was better.

It's Wednesday.  You know what that means?  You get to listen to me whine.  Shut up.  You know you hit refresh a million times ever Wednesday waiting for this post to hit.

Whine of the week:

I'm getting freakin' old.  A little yard work turns into a beating.  I'm sunburned.  I have a strained back. My hamstrings tensed up like a fat lady seeing a kid grab the last cookie.  It's totally ridiculous.

There are also a few humans in my life that I would like to no longer have to deal with.  Their actions are never illegal.  But totally unethical.  I may bitch, but I'm nice about it.  It seriously wears on the nerves.  And my patience.  And my sanity.  Calgon take me away.  Or them.  Please.

Wine of the week:

The purple section has a few choices this week.  Thank goodness.
I'm thinking I will be sippin' on a Tempranillo later this evening.  I hate foam rolling.  I'm thinking that sippin' wine while enduring the agony would help.  But will I spill my wine?  That would be horrible. I'll give it a try and post pictures.  Successful or not.

I'm also thinking a girl's night out is in order.

Good times.  Good times.  On the bar is always better then at the bar.
Happy Whine and Wine Wednesday!

What's your whine and wine for the week?

Busy Fun Weekend

Busy, busy race weekend!

Friday evening was Audrie's 9th birthday party.

Six 9-year old goofy, giggly girls.

We had dinner at the Rainforest Cafe.  We had a reservation, but it still took forever.  I think we were there about 2.5 hours.

All of the girls BUT Audrie stood in their chairs to dance like chickens to the birthday song.
It's hard to believe, but I was shy in groups when I was Audrie's age also.  She is a wild woman at home.  But very quiet and easily embarrassed in public.  Even with her friends.

Gloria was nice enough to help me chaperone the girls.

What's up with my eyes?
We stayed the night at the Embassy Suites.  We had a super sweet suite.  Two bedrooms, two baths, a living/kitchen area and an office.  Perfect!  Gloria and I locked ourselves in one room to watch a movie and sip on wine.  The girls had two tv's and plenty of room to spread out and enjoy themselves.

They had an indoor heated pool so the girls got to swim.
Gift opening pajama party.
Excellent hot breakfast the next morning.  The girls went back for more about ten times each.
Fun had by all.
On Saturday afternoon we hit the Rock 'n' Roll Half expo.

Great expo!  Check out the race review for more pics and details!
Saturday night Gloria hosted a pasta party for her husband's birthday.  Since several of us were running the next day this was a fantastic idea.  Sadly I did not take any pictures.  Bummer.  Believe me, we definitely did some carb loading.

Doug and I headed home early to get ready for race day and were in bed by 9pm!

Stay tuned for the full race report for my first Rock 'n' Roll event.  I loved it!

Check out Skinny Runner's blog here for a super, fantastic giveaway worth over $400!

How was your weekend?  Any races or slumber parties?

Girl's Weekend!

No weekend workout.  I was in Galveston for a girl's weekend!

My friend Danielle, which I have known since the 5th grade invited Audrie and me.  Her daughter had a cheerleading competition they were attending.

This is us in high school.  Gotta love the hair.
We went down on Friday night.  We stopped for Mexican food on the way.  The food was fantastic!

Audrie & Macy were super excited about these heart shaped tortilla chips.  So was I.
Danielle and I stayed up way late and shared a bottle of wine talking about old times once we made it to the hotel.  I guess six hours of chatting on the drive down was just not enough.

We had a lovely, lazy Saturday morning sipping coffee and more girl talk.

Then I mortified Macy when I told her I was wearing the shower cap to her competition.  I don't see the problem.
More food and drinks were consumed over a late lunch.

Mardi Gras decor was out in full swing.

This menu had me overwhelmed  The waiter asked if I needed pictures.  The sweet potato fries were awesome!

We had to get competition ready.  That bloody mary was delish!
My first competition cheer experience.  I had 87 small heart attacks watching those girls doing stunts in the air.  Audrie and I had a good time.  Macy did awesome on her routine!

We ended up at Chili's for a late dinner.  It was the Twilight Zone!  Salad dressing splattered all over a waitress and the floor.  Multiple screams from the kitchen.  An overwhelmed bar tender.  So much fog on the drive home we could hardly see the road.

Sunday morning we did Rain Forest Cafe before the competition.

Danielle and me getting our "cheer" face on.
Finally the fog lifted and we did a super quick stop by the beach.

Girls enjoying the COLD water.

This is an awkward picture.
After a full afternoon of competition we got on the road around 6:00pm and home around 11:30pm.  It was a fun weekend, but made Monday morning hard!  I wimped out on our workout today, but we will be back at it tomorrow.

Stay tuned to see how bad Jillian kicks our ass!

Do you keep up with any friends from high school?
