The Hummus Master

Marathon Training Week 11 - Day 2

I don't even know what today had on the schedule.  It was something to do with running, and run we did!

Very crappy, reflective picture. I'm sportin' the very cool technical shirt we got from the Too Hot to Handle 15K.

And what do you know?  Randee was sportin' the same shirt!  This thing really is very reflective!
So, normally I'm the one being the motivator of our little bitchy twosome.  However, this heat has had me ready to throw in the towel.  More than once lately Randee has been the one pulling me to the finish on our runs.  Last night she called me and told me we had to pick up the pace.  No more lallygagging around on our weekly runs.  We are gonna get our speed up even if it is hot, and we are gonna finish this dang marathon!

This morning we kicked our own butts pretty darn good!  We only did 3.3 miles, but we stayed under 10:00 pace most of the morning.  We did one mile in the 9:30's and about half a mile around 8:50 pace.  Crazy fast for us turtles.

When it was over we thought we would die, but we didn't.  And you know what?  Today we have felt more energized and proud of ourselves than we have in a LONG time.

We even did all that in these crappy 4:30am conditions!
So THANK YOU RANDEE for giving me the kick in the butt I needed!

Today's blog is gonna be all over the place.  Umkay?  Good.

We are lovin' these Team Sparkle skirts and calf sleeves!  Now we are leaning towards the turquoise for our Chicago outfit!  What do you think?
Moving on...

Yesterday I mentioned that I had signed up for ediets.  I had some questions about how detailed the menu was and how many calories I was having a day.

This is a sample from my lunch today.  It gives you a recipe if needed (and apparently some people need a recipe for a turkey sandwich) and it tells you what to add with it.  For a salad it tells you exactly (down to how many cherry tomatoes) what to have.
Based on my weight, height and desired amount of weight loss it has me on a 1500 - 1600 calorie diet.  On days we do our long runs I will consume more.  So far I have not been hungry.  I'm eating five times a day and have to make myself remember to eat!  I think today I will also add a cup of green tea in with my afternoon snack.  I need that metabolism to get movin'!

Oh yes, and if you have followed my blog for very long you know I have an almost ridiculous obsession with hummus!

I'm pretty sure this is why I need an eating plan.  I spend way too much time doing this!
On my ediets plan I was able to select hummus and carrots for my afternoon snack.  I don't like carrots, so I'm gonna substitute another veggie.  I hope this is not too illegal.

I've been wanting to try this hummus recipe from Allrecipes.com for a while now.  It was a little different then the recipe from ediets, but I used it anyway.
Basically all you need is some Tahini and garbanzo beans.
It turned out pretty darn good for my first try!

I'm pretty sure Sabra is going to see a loss in profits with me making my own hummus.
We have our first giveaway coming up later this month.  I'm so dang excited!  If you aren't already, make sure you sign up to follow our blog so you will be eligible to WIN!

Have a Terrific Tuesday!
