Hodgepodge Monday

Workout:  Slept through it!  Stupid iPhone!  Alarm went off at 3:15am instead of 4:15am.  Reset it.  It never went off again.  I woke up when we should have been meeting.  So I rolled over and didn't wake up again until 10:00am.

Today's blog is going to be a bit all over the place.  Just so you know.

First let me wish my sister-in-law Charolete a happy birthday!  If you have not noticed, my family has a butt load of March birthdays.  Charolete is my husband's sister and twin.  Not really, they are one year and two days apart, but they look just a like.  Except she is a little less hairy.

Charolete doing a run/walk for the Jiggle Butt run in January.
She is now training for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day walk.  Quite a time and monetary commitment, but for a great cause.  Click here to make a donation and help Charolete reach her goal.  What a super birthday present that would be!

Since we are on the subject of sister-in-laws let's talk a moment about Alecia.  She is my brother's wife and my original inspiration to start running.

Alecia running the 10-10-10 Chicago Marathon.
Alecia is moving back to Texas soon and we will finally get to run a few races together.  She is planning to join us in Chicago this year for her third marathon.  Alecia is a free spirit and a free runner.  She is now sporting the Vibram five fingers and getting faster by the day!  Check out her witty blog here.

Oh yes, we just signed up for our first Warrior Dash on April 17.

I can't wait to get muddy!  What great pictures those will be!   Watch this video to see all the crazy obstetrical we will get to conquer!

In totally different news, I am trying to decide where we should go for our family summer vacation.  It is narrowed down to two options.  I need your opinions please.

Option 1

Durango, Colorado
This would be a road trip filled with hikes in the mountains, fishing, campfires, and whatever else we stumble upon while we are there.  I found some great fancy cabins right on a river.  Check them out  here.  My family used to make this trip every summer, Doug and the kids have never been.

Option 2

San Francisco and Northern California.
We would fly into San Francisco.  We have a friend we would stay with in San Jose and rent a car to travel around.  We would do Santa Cruz, San Francisco, and then three nights in Sonoma.  We would only have to pay for lodging in Sonoma.  Doug and I have been to this area a couple of times, but never the kids.  We loved Napa, but have not been to Sonoma.

Which would you choose?  The price is about the same, with California coming out a bit cheaper with the great price on plane tickets I found.

I'm off to spring clean.  I'm not motivated yet, but hopefully once I pry myself off this couch the endorphins will kick in.

Happy Monday!

Leave Charolete some birthday wishes!  Also, which vacation would you choose and why?

  6. Tough call...Sonoma has the fancy wine, but it's probably uber expensive. You could bring your fancy wine to Colorado and then pretend you are in Sonoma -- probably for half the price.

    Happy birthday to your sister-in-law!!

  7. @ Alecia and CRL - Colorado does seem more kid friendly. I'll make a decision in the next few weeks. Most likely it will come down to if the cabin is still available, if the San Fran tickets are still cheap, etc. Thanks for the input.
