Screwing, Backbends and Sunshine

Marathon training day 5 - Yogilates

Little Ms. Freakin' Sunshine in Tree pose.

Little Ms. Pucker Lips in some sort of awkward prayer pose.
Yogilates felt really good since we were both super sore from Jillian on Thursday.  You can read about how she tortured us here.  My thighs and butt HURT!

I don't know what this is called.  It looks super easy, but it's not.  Especially when your butt hurts!

Um, yeah.  That yellow shirt really made her perky and bendy this morning.
So, we had absolutely NO food in our house.  I'm also starting my marathon healthy eating plan on Monday.  I hit up Tom Thumb after work.

Priorities:  A couple of bottles of wine.
I was starving, so I made a meal out of the sample sushi they had.  What the heck?  Tom Thumb is getting all swank with sushi samples.  I likey!  Now if they can get some sample wine going on I might stop their daily on my way home from work.

Then I got super, duper excited that they had the Udi's Gluten Free Bagels.  I can't wait to try them.
Perhaps I found a few things.
We will no longer be able to send the kids to college, but momma will look good crossing the finish line in Chicago.  You have to have your priorities.

Ugh, now I have to put all this crap away.
Here is the cold goods.....

....and the uncold goods....
....and the veggies & fruit that stay out on the counter.
What do you mean wine is not a fruit?  It derives from grapes.  Duh.

By the time I put away this mountain of groceries I was starving.....and thirsty.....and perhaps a little delirious.

I went to open the wine and realized I had the can opener.
So I took a picture.  Then I got the brilliant idea to show you lucky readers how to successfully open a bottle of wine with your teeth.

Okay, maybe not.
 How about a waiter's corkscrew?

Step 1:  Buy some kickbutt wine like Red Guitar.
Step 2:  Insert corkscrew into the center of the cork.

Step 3:  Twist corkscrew down until the first hinge sits on the side of the bottle.

Step 4:  Pull up the handle until the second hinge sets on the side of the bottle.
Step 5:  Pull hinge until cork comes out of the bottle.
Step 6:  Pour yourself a glass and enjoy.  Cheers!
You can trust me.  I'm a professional.

I've had lots of practice.
This was dinner.  A heaping pile of veggies, cheese and rice crackers.  Oh yes, and a container of hummus & wine.  Ignore the apples, those were not consumed.
While up loading pictures for this post from my phone I found this.

Apparently Audrie takes after her mother....entertaining herself with self portraits with the CamWow app.
I'm off to convince my son he is not about to die.  He licked a flower, why I have no idea, and now he thinks it was poisonous and he is about to die.  10 year old drama.  Wine, oh how I need thee!

Whine and Wine Wednesday!

Let's just get right to the whining shall we.

Whine:

I have looked like this all week.
Grumpy.  Moody.  Some might even say bitchy.

Blame it on the raaaainnnn.

Dang Texas storms did this to my parent's house on Sunday morning.
It also caused us to have to run a half marathon in the rain.  Well, almost a half marathon.  It also caused them to shorten the course by .6.  We also had a race delay.  I know, I know.  A race report would be nice.  I'll get to it soon.  I plan on getting my waterproof camera developed tonight.  That means possible race report tomorrow.

Sunday's race was hell for me.  I could not breath.  90% due to being sick.  10% due to the humidity.

From the first mile I was having issues.

Why the hell am I so hunchbacked?  I might could breath if I stood up straight.
I was definitely the bitchy runner after this race.
Everyone else was talking about how "great" they felt.  How much "fun" they had.  I wanted to slap all of them.  Shut up and get in the car!

So Monday and Tuesday we had temperatures in the 40's.  In Texas.  In May.  Stupid  Thankfully it looks like Spring is returning and the weather is looking better.

Trent and I will be running the Mom Run 5K on Saturday.

This was us at last year's race.

Trent's race plan:  Sprint.  Stop.  Repeat.  It's exhausting to keep up!  I'm trying to talk him into letting me pace us.  We will see what happens.  Last year we got 3rd place in the Mom/Child division for his age group.  He got a trophy and thought that was super cool!

Ahhh, and I'm getting a massage and facial on Saturday afternoon from Cynthia!  I can't wait!  Happy Mother's Day to me.

Wine:

Last night I had a glass of Reg Guitar Tempranillo.  That is some darn good stuff.  The purple section of the wine cellar is getting low.  I might have to break into the good stuff.  Shhh..don't tell Doug!

Tears of sadness when this happens.
Oh yes, and I get to go on a date Friday night.  Yes, with Doug.  We are going to Empa Mundo for a BYOB wine gathering.  Sounds fun.  Only issue.  They only serve Empanadas.  I do gluten free.  Empanadas are full of gluten.  I'll have wine, and maybe try to sweet talk the chef into whipping me up something special.

One last piece of adivise.  Drop everything and order this book immediatly.

I'm just getting started, but it is greatness. I do believe Dawn is a bitchy runner!
What is your whine and wine for the week?

Whine and Wine Wednesday!

Workout:  3 miles at 10:30 pace.  Felt pretty darn good.

Oh boy!  Momma got a new toy.  No, not that kind of toy.  Even I keep some things a secret.

I got an iPhone 4.

I can now take my self portrait obsession to a new level!  I also have a flash.  You know what that means?

Morning workout pictures!  Greatness!
I know you have been dying to see how cute we look at 4:45am every morning.  Well wait no more.

Randee forgot to attach her arms this morning.

Trying out my new green compression socks.  I'm thinking the car that almost ran over me this morning had no excuse for not seeing me.

Randee's neighborhood has an insane amount of bunnies running around every morning.  I stopped twice to try and get a good picture.

It never happened.  But that brown thing in the yard is not poop.  It's a rabbit.  I swear.
Okay, I know, I know.  I'm supposed to be whining.  Not being all happy about my new phone and crap. So without any further ado....

I love Spring.  Spring in Texas does not love me.  My allergies have been flared up.  Gives me a constant headache.  Yes Doug, I really have a headache.  It's not just another excuse.  It also makes breathing difficult.  Now if I would just remember to take my allergy meds it might help.

What else.  I'm really just very chill this week.  Not much to whine about.  What can I say?

WINE!  That's what you really come to Whine and Wine Wednesday for.  Admit it.

Since Doug never fills my purple section with "drinkable" wine (this is a constant whine of mine).  I purchased myself a few bottles at *gasp* Target.  I did good!

Red Guitar Tempranillo
It was really tasty.  But I only bought one bottle.  Perhaps I will need to stop by Target on the way home.  If not I also grabbed a couple bottles of Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling.  That's always a good, easy sipper.

While you ponder your wine choice, check out this fantastic image.

This is what my hair looked like when I took it down after working out this morning.  "Something About Mary" was the first thing that came to mind.  I seriously have got to get some eye cream soon.

Happy Whine and Wine Wednesday!

What's your whine and wine for the week.

Send me pictures of you with your wine.  I want to post them.  I also don't want to feel like a lush drinking alone.  Btchyrunners@gmail.com.  It's that simple!
