Hydrating with Cape Cods

Saturday's Workout:  7 miles at the Trinity River. The first 2 mile were horrible and pathetic.  So we stopped, stretched and regrouped.  The last 5 miles were much better.

Saturday morning the usual running gang met up for our long run.

Randee running.  Look how lovely my body shape looks in my shadow.  Is my butt really that large?

It was a beautiful day in Texas.

Yeah, the look on my face is kinda how I felt the entire run.
Talia and Brittany were there also, but their little speedy butts were way out of photo range.

Stretching in the park after the run.
This is the sexy lunge with puckered lips pose.  Your yoga instructor hasn't taught you this?  Weird.
Little Brittany.  Remember, she doesn't stretch.  She just watches us and rolls her eyes.
Of course we had to end with coffee at our favorite Starbucks.

News Alert:  All of our coffees were good today!  Amazing!

I have a zit the size of Africa on my chin.  This was my cleaver way to disguise it.
Saturday night was Doug's birthday gathering.

We went to LaGrange in Deep Ellum to hear a friend's band.
Some friends showed up to surprise Doug and join the fun...and drinkin'.

Randee was there.  And the brisket tacos and chicken nachos were delish!
Jim and Corinne were there.
Chad and his new truck were there.
Becky and "The Dude" were there.
Cheryl and Paul were there.

Danielle was there.
Tom and Martha were also there, but no pictures of them together.  Sad face.

Robby White and the Tejas Gingos rocked it as usual.

At some point we decided to take pictures of everyone with the birthday boy.  It started out with the ladies....
Oooohhh.
Then Randee started something...

There is Martha.
What's up with the tongue.  That thing is not normal.
Then the men decided they wanted to be part of the fun.

Jim looks pretty relaxed in Doug's arms.
Hold on Jeff.
Classy.
One nice civilized picture of the group.
Not sure what I am doing to Randee here.
Doing the gluten free thing I can't drink beer.  Hole in the wall bars don't usually have the best wine selection.

So we drank Cape Cods.  Pretty tasty.

Fun night.  Stayed up way past my 8:30pm bed time.  Now with the daylight savings time I will be really off schedule and cranky today!  The usual.

Have a great day!

Are you ever too old to take goofy pictures in a bar?  What is your adult beverage of choice?

Okay, okay, since this is supposed to be a running blog.  What was your weekend workout?

Feels So Good!

Workout:  6 miles @ 10:50 pace

We finally ran again!  Whoot!

Randee was feeling like a badass mother runner today
We ran the Trinity Trail in Fort Worth.  It was a very relaxing and scenic run.  Also, a much needed mommy break after a week snowed in the house with two kids and a husband!

There were quite a few people on the path, but they were all so nice!  Everyone waved and said hi.  Kind of strange, but I liked it!

View of the river while running
It was so peaceful
We will definitely run the Trinity Trail again!
I look like I was forgetting to breath & Randee is like "hey don't forget to get me in the picture!"
After the run we went by Fort Worth Running Company.  They were still out of the shoe inserts Randee needs, but Angie found a pair of Asics Kayano 16's at half off!  Score!

Love these shoes!
We then went for coffee at a different Fort Worth Starbucks.  The experience was less then exciting.  Angie's coffee tasted like warm milk.  The chick making the coffee had the nerve to say "you asked for fat free milk, I'm not sure if you have ever tasted this coffee before, but...."  Yeah woman, I drink this same coffee multiple times a week every week.  It's not the milk it's you!  You suck at making coffee!  Anyway, then she gave me the strongest latte ever to shut me up!

Seriously!  It should not be so hard to get a good nonfat vanilla latte when you're paying $5!

Now if the Texas weather will chill out we can maybe get back on a regular running schedule.  I'm not loving this weeks forecast with another chance of snow!
We live in Texas.  Winter is not supposed to be this cold and snowy!  I guess it is going to be so cold Wednesday night they could not even put the number on the forecast!?

Where Do You Run?

Where do you run?

We have a few regular routes.

Route 1 is around Angie's neighborhood.  This is probably my least favorite.  Not sure if it is because we do it so much or because it has a couple of hills that I dislike.  Two or 3 miles seems like freakin' forever when we do them here!

This is about as exciting as the view gets on our early morning runs...long before the sun comes up!

Route 2 is around Randee's neighborhood.  This is a very flat route that we have just recently starting using.  We can knock out 3 or 4 miles in her neighborhood no problem.

View's not much different here, but we can take self portraits in the glow of the streetlamp!

Route 3 is downtown Fort Worth.  This is where we go for our long runs on the weekend.  We can do 6+ miles here with no problem.  There are some hills, but there is also a lot of flat.  We encounter no shortage of homeless entertainment, and great scenery.  We also have our favorite Starbucks we visit regularly.

Sundance Square

The Bitchy Runners on our usual route

During the holidays they had this super cool light display we could run through
Then there is our favorite Starbucks that makes really bad coffee!

Today we will be trying a new route.  The Trinity Trail in Fort Worth.  The main reason we have not tried it before is because we run in the dark.  We are too scared to run the trail in the dark, even though it seems to always be full of people.  I expect it to be a fun place to run!

Looks nice and scenic!

As our weekly runs get longer we are going to have to investigate new places to try.  You can only run in one mile circles for so long!

What is your favorite running route?  Do you go to parks or trails or do you stick to your own neighborhood?  If you are in the DFW area, do you have any running locations you recommend we try?
