Marathon Training Week 13 - Day 2

Yesterday was supposed to be yoga.  In reality we slept in and rested our bodies from the 16 mile run the day before.  Sunday runs make Monday morning hard!

Today called for 5 miles at race pace.  In reality we did three miles at snail pace.

90 degree mornings cause boob sweat just smiling for pictures.
Randee...aka Sweaty Crack....was making me laugh my butt off this morning.
Breathing was quite a challenge. No movement in the air. We were satisfied with three miles and some chat time.

Now to get this off my chest....

I just accepted a new job offer.  Scary...yes.  Exciting...yes.  Stepping outside my comfort zone..Hell Yes!

I had a great job.  I made decent money.  I had an amazing view of a PGA golf course out of my wall of windows.  But I wasn't being challenged.  Something was missing.  I was living very securely within my comfort zone!

Long distance running has taught me to step WAY outside of my comfort zone.  Training for a marathon has taught me discipline....hardwork....dedication....and that I'm a Badass....even if I'm a super granny slow Badass!  Anyone that trains for a marathon is a Badass in my humble opinion!

When it's not 9,000,000 degrees I will sport my "Badass Mother Runner" Shirt with a new found PRIDE!

If you haven't already, you need to check out the Another Mother Runner blog!
(Ooh...side note....if you google image search "badass mother runner" you will see a picture of both Randee and me.  Seriously.  Try it!)

I truly believe that we have to learn to leap outside of our comfort zone in all areas of our life to discover our true potential.  Will you fail?  Maybe.  Will it be scary?  Probably.  Will it be hard?  Definitely.

So, I have made the first step to change.  I'm walking into the unknown.  I'm taking a leap of faith.  I'm believing in myself....in my potential.  I'm trusting my instincts.

I'm ready to prove to myself I'm a Baddass...mother....runner...daughter...wife...friend...seller....blogger...wineo...

In other news....

My daughter is now making duct tape tops.  She's a badass duct tape designer!

What comfort zone do you need to jump out of?

Fill in the blank....I'm a badass __________?

  1. Congrats on the new job - you are badass!

I really admire you stepping outside your comfort zone & wish you the best of luck!

  2. Yay for the new job!

    I'm a badass... period. ;)

  3. Oh my gosh ... I can't fill in the blank with my initial answer. I mean not that I believe my initial thought - I just temporarily channeled Samuel L Jackson I think.

This whole thing of change is good! Scary, exciting, good!! Best of luck to you with this new job!

I'm a badass procrastinator. Oh yeah, I can procrastinate like nobody else. See? I even procrastinated on giving an answer to it!

  4. Congrats on your new job!

I'm the farthest from an AM workout person....you guys do it all the time b/c, duh, you're badass. But last week I did a Wed nite class and Thur did 6am group training...loved it! Why didn't I get over myself and go to early AM workout before now?!?! That was me out of my comfort zone. Now I'm badass, ha! :)

  5. Congrats on the job!!

Listening to your body is so important. Good call on rest days and shorter runs when hell is envious of the heat.

  6. This post totally resonates with me. I have been stepping out of my comfort zone, ever since I walked away from a secure job, at entry-level, and moved to Austin, where I only know Melissa and it has been intense. But, I know this was the right move. Congrats on stepping out of that comfort zone. Comfort is boring - excitement comes from challenges.
I AM A BADASS EATING MACHINE. I like "the food"
