Three Thrills Thursday

Marathon Training Week 8 - Day 4

We have actually missed an entire week of training.  I did one three mile run and some pilates.  Randee let Jillian kick her and her husband's butt a few times.  So today we decided to ease ourselves back into reality with a three mile run and LOTS of chatting.  Six days apart and we had a LOT to catch up on!

Me and my vacation muffin top ready to run.

Randee was wishin' I would have taken just one more day of vacation!
We ended up doing three 10ish pace miles.  We started slow, but ended with a descent pace.  It was in the 80's at 4:45am, so a very HOT run.

Thrill 1:

I WANT NEED this red skirt!

From the August 2011 issue of Runner's World that I received today!
I have searched the internet like a mad woman and can't find this skirt!  I REALLY need it.  If you come across it please let me know where I can find it.  If you are in a store and see it, go ahead and grab me a medium.  I promise to pay you back!  Randee and I both think we would look super cute in matching red skirts running Chicago!  Don't you agree?  I'm actually thinking that black and white poke-a-dot headband is pretty darn cute also.  Maybe I need one of those too!

Thrill 2:

I'm wishin' I was still at the beach!

My mad self portrait skills on the beach.
I could live at the beach!  It is so relaxing.  Do you know that country song....Toes in the Water...Ass in the sand...not a worry in the world....cold beer in my hand...life is good today..?  Yeah, I could totally do that full time!  Except I don't want any hurricanes.  Just perfect weather.  Okay?  Thanks.

Thrill 3:

Remember the other day when I threw a bit of a temper tantrum because blogger lost my amazing post?  Well, I'm pretty sure it was that day that I wrote about Cheri's birthday.  So just to make sure you all wish Ms. Cheri a happy birthday....late as it might be....let me write it again.  It was Cheri's birthday.  Randee decided to invite herself and Cheri over for a glass of wine to celebrate.

Doug busted out the champagne and Cheri got to town.  It was her birthday after all!

What's thrilling in your life this week?  Wish Cheri a happy belated birthday.  And most importantly, find me that dang red skirt!

Whine and Wine Wednesday

Whine:

I really don't have much to whine about this week.  I just returned home from a fantabulous week on the coast with my family.

Lots of R&R.

Lots of relaxin' on the beach with the family.

Lots of posing in the waves.

A little bit of work getting the beach house ready for a week of fun.

A lot of cranking to help make some delicious homemade banana nut ice cream!
A whole lot of smiles watching my nanny learn the Cupid Shuffle.
Lots of Cheers as we had frozen drinks by the ocean.

One happy dad finally enjoying his Father's Day gift of Mexican Shrimp Cocktail and Margaritas.
Four mornings of Pilates with my amazing cousin Megan as our instructor.
Lots of fun as some of the ladies headed out for cruisin' on the beach in the golf cart.

Wine:

There was plenty of WINE...and the breeze off the water was so cool I had to wrap myself in a towel to stay warm!  Perfect!
Now I'm off to enjoy some FOOD and WINE with the hubby and kids to put a perfect ending to my vacation week!

What's your whine and wine of the week?

On The Road Again

Nope, I have not fallen off the face of the earth.

I've been having fun with the family at the coast.

We're heading home with the parents now in the RV.

Randee has missed me terribly! Four miles in the morning!

This was us on our last workout....a week ago tomorrow!

I did run three miles on the beach & did lots of Pilates. Hopefully I won't die too many times tomorrow.

I can't wait to get caught up on my blog peeps! I feel so behind!

Tell me what I've missed...besides you!

Whine and Wine Wednesday

I just wrote an amazing, hysterical Whine and Wine Wednesday.

Then Blogger glitched and lost it.

Now I'm pouting.

And screaming at the computer.
I'm thinking about self hosting.  Someone tell me about it.  What provider do you use?  Does it suck?  Does it lose your brilliant post?

That's my whine.  Now I'm off to find some wine to make me feel better!

Whoa Nelly I'm Behind

Marathon Training - Week 6 - Day 6

Marathon Training - Week 7  - Day 1 & 2

I have been enjoying a bit of a 'staycation' with the family for the past five days. It's been super enjoyable, but has me way behind in the blog world.  I have a fantabulous post coming up about all the amazing food we consumed...and the wine too!  For now I am going to catch up on our marathon training!

Saturday we had a 10 mile long run on our training schedule.

This was the weather at 6:00am.  It was warmer and the dew point was higher by the time we were done.
We went to River Legacy Park and ran 5 miles out and 5 miles back on the trail.

Randee was all chipper & ended up being my cheerleader to finish this horrible run!

Brittany and Talia were getting ready to rumble.  Something about Brittany was gonna kick her butt if she ever said she was going to quit running again.

WHAT?  A boy?  Little Brittany brought her "friend" Jaryd along for the run.  Rule #1: No making out while running.

Little did I know when I took this self portrait how bad my run would be!
We were off.  Kinda.

We went a good 25 feet before one of Randee's water bottles fell out and the lid busted.  Not a good start.
And were off...again.

We did the first five miles with no breaks.  It was hot.  I was sucking wind from the start.

One positive...the sky was GORGEOUS!

At mile 5 the plan was to turn around, walk while taking a GU and then to turn our music on and run it home.

5 miles done and still smiling....not really, but we can pretend for one picture.
Randee gagged down some new version of GU.  She said it was nasty, but is sure seemed to give her a major burst of energy.

I ate a few sharkies.  I was also sucking down water.  I was dehydrated from the get go.  I'm sure my wine consumption (to be discussed in the next post) had nothing to do with it!

Then we went to put our music on....and Randee's iPod was dead.  So, since she was feeling so peppy I begged her to talk to me the entire five miles back to the car.  She kept me entertained and somewhat focused.  I did have to stop and walk on a few occasions.  Just a really sucky run for me.

But we finished!

Brittany and Jaryd finished in about five minutes, and had time to bake a pie and still make out before we got done.  Talia had a good run and was having to cover her eyes from the make out session until we got there.

Driving to Starbucks....ugh....I was hating all things running at this point.

Brittany was taking self portraits of her "Freakishly Amazing." shirt.

Jaryd was trying to figure out how he got suckered into waking up at the butt crack of dawn to run 10 hot miles with a bunch of bitches.
Randee and Talia met us at the park, so we had a convoy on the way to Starbucks.
Jaryd had the great opportunity to listen in on girl talk at it's best.  Sex.  Losing Toe Nails. People we like.  People we don't like.  The catty teenagers sitting next to us.  Randee's filthy mouth.  No subject was off limits.

Ms. Thang is trying to get a job as a Sexy, Gangster Starbucks model.  I hear they're in great demand.  Please notice the LUNA headband she was rockin'.
On Monday Randee and I did Yogilates by the pool.  It was crazy windy and we were both only half into it.  But we did it.

Tuesday called for 4 miles at race pace.

source
However, this was going on outside.  So we skipped our workout.  There is plenty of day left to make up the 4 miles, but as of right now I'm not very motivated to make that happen!

I'm about to be out of town for a week.  It will be interesting to see how we manage our training while apart!  You know I don't like to workout alone!  However, my family has promised to join me on my runs  Ooohh...and my cousin teaches Pilates.  She is supposed to lead us in pilates on the beach.  That sounds amazing!  Except she might tell me how horrible my form is.  When you do home videos there is no one there to tell you that you really suck.  Oh well, it'll be fun just the same!

Less than 16 weeks to race day.  Seems like forever...but also right around the corner.  We really should book our flights to Chicago soon!

Happy Tuesday!

A Day After Father's Day - Father's Day Post

I'll get caught up on our marathon training and the obscene amount of food and wine we have been consuming in the next post.  For now, this Monday after Father's Day, I will focus on the men in my life.

My Daddy!

He taught me all my dance moves, and to always be the best me I can be.

He is a great Papa, and my kids love to spend time with him and Nana.

He is always a ray of sunshine with the most optimistic outlook on life of anyone I know.

He taught me to take life head-on and make the most of every day.

He taught me to enjoy each and every meal & the company you share it with.

My Baby Daddy...who wishes I would call him daddy!

He is a fantastic father who continually interacts and plays with the kids.  His baby girl has had him wrapped around her little finger since day one!

He is not afraid to show his emotions towards his loved ones.  Losing his own dad at a very young age he is determined to make sure his kids know how much they are loved.

He has an astounding intellect that he is sharing with our kids and has introduced them to the arts and a every eclectic variety of music.

He's just dang sexy....and funny...and selects and continually pours some tasty wine...and tells me everyday how beautiful I am.  He is definitely a keeper!
My Papa Robert

I grew up living near my grandpa.  I spent many a Friday night watching Hee Haw and Wrestling.  He was an ornery ol' fart, but he loved me to pieces.

We lost papa on Valentines Day 2010.  I miss him dearly.
My Papa Bob

My papa Bob is one of the nicest, hardest working men you will ever meet.  He also lived very close when I was growing up. He will do anything for anybody.  Him and my nanny just celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary!

He is easy going and lets my Nanny dress him up in silly hats and put his picture on Facebook.  Yap, my Nanny just got an iPhone and a Facebook account. I'm excited to spend some time with them on vacation starting later this week!
My Little Brother

My brother used to embarrass the crap out of me growing up.  Neon pink sunglasses and a fanny pack, break dancing in public and frogs and turtles in my bathtub...these were all routine reasons for me to scream "MOM!"  Oh yes, and the day he put fishing string across my doorway, and watched as I fell on my face trying to enter my room...."MOM!"

He now has two little ones of his own.  It is awesome to watch him be a great dad, but I can't say I'm surprised.  He did have a lot of great role models to learn from!
I hope everyone took a moment to celebrate their dads, baby daddies, grandfathers, brothers and any and all males who have impacted their lives yesterday!

Happy Monday!
